Evangelism and Christmas
“Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people…”
From the first words of the angels to the shepherds, we hear valuable information about the newly-born Messiah—He will bring joy! This joy will not be exclusive to the Israelites, but it will be for all people. This joy is for successful and unsuccessful people, for the healthy and the sick, for the rich and the poor, for the young and the old, for those who strive to live morally upright lives and for those who live lives full of sin. This news about Jesus Christ who came to this world—who died and was raised, that there is forgiveness of sins, salvation, and eternal life—is for absolutely all people, which means, for you and me! Praise the Lord!
Every Christian continually seeks out opportunities for evangelism and the spreading of the Good News! The end of the year for many includes vacation and potentially more free time. These days off allow us to spend more time with family, relatives, and friends.
We strongly urge you to include in your fellowship people who are typically outside of your circle. Consider those people in the church that are around you who may have recently immigrated, recently come to the church, or don’t yet know the Lord as their personal Savior. As Christ who for our sake went out of his “comfort zone” having come to this earth, go out of your “comfort zone” to serve those who are currently lacking fellowship. Remind yourselves that our ministry and care of others is an expression of true love that brings glory to God (Luke 10:25-37).
Another opportunity for evangelism is to invite people to your small group or church services. Pay attention to the schedule of the Christmas services. Pray, and then, trusting God, invite people to the services who need to hear the news about the Savior.
