GKBS Lesson Overview

September 10, 2026
"John the Baptist's Life" - Luke 1:17
Central Truth: God prepared the way for the Savior.
Key Texts: Luke 1:5–25, 57–80; 3:1–22; 4:1–13; Matthew 3:1–4:11; 14:1–12; Mark 1:1–13; John 1:15–34; 3:22–36
Spotlight on the Gospel: All people are sinners who need to repent and be forgiven. John prepared the way by calling for repentance and pointing to Jesus, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Trust in Jesus alone as your Savior from sin.
Ask Your Child: What happened to Zechariah when he didn’t believe the angel?
Next Week: Lesson 3 — Jesus’ Ministry Begins

For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah when he said,
“The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord; make His paths straight.’”
Matthew 3:3
---
Ибо он тот, о котором сказал пророк Исаия: глас вопиющего в пустыне: приготовьте путь Господу, прямыми сделайте стези Ему.
Матфея 3:3
